Window sill

Jura limestone – as it is a natural stone – has a wide variety of colours and designs. Every window sill has a unique looks.

On surface of limestone there are cracks which are called quartz vein. It derives from sedimentary nature of limestone. It is natural and does not spoil the quality of products. If quartz vein is thicker then a single hair, the crystals become visible to the naked eye. The strength of limestone is bigger at the quartz vein then at other parts of the stone. The quartz vein has no influence on frost-resistance and other physical parameters.

Surface of limestone with quartz vein is smooth without dips.

Structure of Jura limestone is porous, there are various dips on its surface. We suggest to use proofing for indoor and outdoor to raise resistance against wet and dirty. Hereby you could protect origin features, structure and beauty of Jura limestone.

The visible strong markings on its surface are crystallized marine creatures’ remains (sea snail, seashell, sea urchin etc.) which are the features of limestone, too.

The quality of Jura limestone according to DIN standard is certified by Bavarian Trade Association.

Instruction for building in
1. To define the sizes

Measure the width of the window.

a. Plastered wall: measured width + 2-2 cm (+4cm) and make round up according to the given sizes.
b. Unplastered wall: make round the measured width up to the next 5 cm measure step

Measure the distance from the edge of the wall to the window-frame.

a. Plastered wall: measured distance + 2,5 cm and make round it up according to the next 2,5 cm measure step.
b. Unplastered wall: measured distance + the thickness of the plaster (min 1,5 cm) + 2,5 cm and make round it according to the given sizes.
c. With heat insulation: measured distance + thickness of heat insulator + 1 cm + 2,5 cm and make round it according to the given sizes.

2. Building in

Firstly prepare the surface (plaster + carving to the sides) in which you put the window sill. Fix the window sill with flexible glue. Outdoor take good care of preparing the proper slope.

Avoid – if possible – getting dirty of surface during the building in.

To remove dried glue from surface do not use scrubbing-brush but acid-free cleaning material.

When the whole surface become dry, we suggest to impregnate it with stone protectors.

Clean the window sill with neutral soapy water..Do not use corrosive materials.
